John Mayer either likes to be in control of the rumor mill via the media or he just likes pulling their chains. MSN reports he’s feeding rumors that he and Jennifer Aniston are engaged through a post to his Twitter account.

Some consider it cruel to Aniston if it’s untrue. In the past he’s also stopped on the sidewalk to give an improptu press conference. I think it’s pretty funny, but I’m sure it drives his publicist crazy.

But that said I would agree it isn’t a pleasant thing for him to do to her.

I’m so confused, who are these people actually dating?

Since the beginning of the summer I’ve read that John Mayer has been dating Jessica Simpson, then Mandy Moore, and now Cameron Diaz. As for Cameron she’s been reported with Criss Angel, Jude Law and now Mayer.

I feel like I’m at a junior high boy/girl party and don’t know who’s with who.

So the fact that John Mayer said he and Jessica Simpson were not together earlier this year was bull.

They were seen after the end of his tour at Madison Square Garden holding hands.

It seems like just yesterday that Mayer was saying that Simpson’s father was using him for publicity for her and that nothing was going on. I guess he needs to let her know that.
