American Idol
My daughter was getting upset last night watching American Idol thinking that Chris Richardson was getting voted off.
She said something was wrong with the voting because he was in the bottom two. She also said there are sites that support the vote for the least talented contestants. I don’t know if this is true.
Stephanie Edwards was the one to leave. You never know how it will go on that show.
Madden 09 Roster Update #12 Details
While roster update #11 only lasted something like a day before disappearing, it was at least out there which makes this week’s update #12 of season. It is expected to be available for download sometime tomorrow. From browsing through it not much jumped out at me other than a couple good players heading to the IR. Continue on for all the transactions, ratings up/down, contract extensions, and injuries. Transactions WR Antonio Chatman – Released to FA (IR) LB Abdul Hodge – Released to FA
Speculation Make You Smarter?
Speculation Make You Smarter? Posted today at 11:09 am by Chris Kornelis Every morning for the last year, I feel like I've read the same story: revenue's down, journalists laid off. Then comes the companion piece: News organizations aren't going to be their to hold government accountable and keep an eye on the public square. At least not as well. But, the one brand of journalism that appears to be recession proof, appears to be the one with the least merit: the business of speculation. Hey
Old Canes - Early Morning Hymns
Old Canes record Early Morning Hymns came out on Second Nature Recordings back in 2004. I’m still listening, loving it and I’m just not sure enough people know about it. It’s a great fall meets winter record. About: “Appleseed Cast frontman, Chris Crisci, departs from space rock and moody atmospherics for a multi-instrumental fuzz-folk masterpiece featuring the talents of Jordan Geiger (Minus Story) and Nathan Richardson (The Casket Lottery). Layers of home-recorded toy pianos, glockenspiels,
Kerry to be named chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
The Boston Globe, “Kerry poised to cap long journey” “The role of Senate Foreign Relations Committee chair is enormously influential,” Carter said. “It gives the person who holds it an incredible position to shape policy.” WASHINGTON - More than three decades after he first appeared before the panel as a 27-year-old Vietnam veteran-turned-antiwar protester, Senator John F. Kerry will be named chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, giving him enormous influence over President
Q&A: Bahn on Basketball, Part 1
With the arrival of the hoops season upon us, we decided it was time to chat about this year’s Razorback team with Chris Bahn, ArkansasSports360.com’s outstanding Hog beat reporter. Bahn covers both the football and basketball teams, and his work is an essential part of our daily sports reading. In the first installment of a two-part Q&A, Bahn discusses John Pelphrey’s performance last season, the dynamic freshmen duo of Courtney Fortson and Rotnei Clarke, and the likelihood of Michael Was

At DLWS, Everything’s Jake!
Just finished another year with my dear friends and family, Moose and Sharon Peterson, Laurie Excell, Kevin Dobler, new addition Drew Gurian, and of course, the chip off the old Moose, Jake Peterson, seen above. Out near Bozeman, Montana, they’ve got this city that is basically the archeology of rural Montana (is it redundant to say “rural Montana?”). This repository of Montana history is called Nevada City. Anybody else think that’s odd? At any rate, they’ve got old houses, jail cells, wate
Coaches Clinic
by Matt Caputo When you think of basketball blogs, Henry Abbott, Lang Whitaker or Gilbert Arenas usually come to mind. You might not know that former NBA head coach, Eric Musselman, has been keeping one of the best hoops blogs in the business. His site, Eric Musselman’s Basketball Notebook, is a unique commentary on basketball and the intricacies of teaching sports. Musselman, son of former long time pro and college coach Bill Musselman, became the youngest coach in CBA history at 23 years
Scorpio 2008 - Intense Self-Reliant Water Spirits
by Robert Wilkinson November accents the water sign Scorpio, where we transcend the forms we’ve glimpsed up to now and move deeper into the experience of people and activities. We can concentrate power by purifying ourselves of obsolete or stagnant feelings, and going deeper into our mystery to regenerate what we need to get from here to where we're going. It’s definitely the heart of Autumn, with its focus on harvesting that which is pleasing, socializing and connecting while seeing the end
The Fundamentals
Mike Moreau of HOOPSWORLD: “Now as we compare both in the current day, with LeBron in Year 6 and Kobe in Year 13, Kobe is still the better individual defender and a consistently better foul shooter. James is the better rebounder, passer and a more dominant physical presence. He has also consistently been a better teammate and better leader. Last shot to win the game? Right now, it’s The Black Mamba. No one strikes more fear at crunch time, which may be the best comparison of all when trying to

Hillary Might Say No
The Politico is reporting some speculation that Hillary Clinton might decline Barack Obama’s offer to serve as Secretary of State: Hillary Rodham Clinton isn’t certain she would accept the Secretary of State post even if Barack Obama offers it to her, several people close to the former first lady say. Press reports that portray Clinton as willing to accept the job – once the Obama transition team vets Bill Clinton’s philanthropic and business ventures – are inaccurate, one Clinton insider t

Kicks On Court - November 19th, 2008
Learning from our past Kicks On Court (KOC) Editions, we can always count on Mike Bibby to sport some exclusive Air Jordan Lows. Earlier this year, Bibby hooped in two different colorways of the Air Jordan 2 Lows and two different colorways of the Air Jordan 23 Lows. Today, our KOC spotlights Bibby hooping in a pair of Air Jordan 2.5 Lows. These never-before-seen sneakers feature an all-black leather upper and midsole with a original white outsole. From what we can see from the picture, red acc
Oakland Raider writer responds to bad medicine
Yesterday, my colleague here on Outsider Greg Trippiedi offered up a flawed plan to "fix" the Oakland Raiders. As one who covers the Oakland Raiders for Thoughts from the Dark Side and Examiner.com, I felt compelled to refute his flawed and at times contradictory plan. You can find my own plan for the long term health of the Raiders franchise here. I submit that Trippiedi's work is that it was filled with factual errors which led to faulty analysis. In fact, many of the moves that he suggests m
Scalabrine To The Rescue As Celtics Knock Off Knicks
When you think of “go-to players” on the defending NBA Champion Boston Celtics, Brian Scalabrine is not the first guy to pop into your mind. In fact he may not be one of the first eleven guys that come to mind. But on Tuesday with Celtics All-Star forward Kevin Garnett serving a one game suspension, the seldom used veteran got the start. Scalabrine did not put up “Big Ticket” type numbers, but he did hit a critical shot near the end of the game against the New York Knicks as Boston got the wi
Chris Richardson Resurfaces as Justin Timberlake Clone
This is really sad. Chris Richardson finally surfaces after fading into obscurity to put out his remix of one of the worst songs of the year, T-Pain's "Can't Believe It". Chris makes it worse by talking about bacon and Sarah Palin. Even more ridiculous? This is almost exactly the same thing Justin Timberlake already did. Though Justin's is legal. Please do something original, Chris. read more
