Rich young stars

Forbes list of the richest young stars had some usuals on the list: Lindsay Lohan and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
Then there were a few I didn’t think of or expect such as Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame and Dakota Fanning of War of the Worlds and I Am Sam.
Also, the youngest star on the list Abigail Breslin, 10 years, who starred in Little Miss Sunshine and Raising Helen.

"Twilight": Entertaining Teen Vampire Movie's Superhero Moves Balance Out Chick-Flickism

By Debbie Schlussel Several parents with young daughters have asked me whether it's okay for their young daughters to see "Twilight", the teen vampire love and adventure movie in theaters at Midnight, Tonight. I say, take 'em, provided they are twelve years old or older. There is no sex and very little violence. The little blood that there is is mostly the result of violence that takes place offscreen. The only thing I really disliked about "Twilight" wasn't the fault of moviemakers. It was

Half Blood Prince Trailer-New!

Here is the latest film coming out in the Harry Potter Saga. It is called Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. This is the newest trailer out so far. There are a lot of die hard fans out there that are having trouble waiting for it’s release date of July 17th of 2009. All of the Harry Potter films have been gigantically profitable with a huge market audience. Most of the characters from all the earlier films have returned for this film so it should turn out the same success. This post was

How to Ride Mud

by Bill Strickland I made a lot of blunders at the Mercer Cup U.S. Gran Prix cross race. First, I raced. (As everyone who’s tried it — and loved it — knows, cyclocross is a muddle wrapped in a mistake inside an error. Classicists, by which I mean those who preach the step-through dismount, often compare cross to the siren daughters of Achelous, but in the internet age I suppose more people will understand the sport if it’s described as the two-girls-one-cup of bike racing: Spiritually, emoti

Salad, Soup + Snape

We got a little hungry for lunch around 2:30 and we were craving something GREEN after all that bread! The lunch conversation revolved around Harry Potter, hence the inclusion of Snape I made this colorful salad to go with some leftover soup - Green leaf lettuce in a homemade lemon-rosemary dressing (just lemon juice, canola oil, chopped rosemary, S+P) topped with sauteed carrot, bed pepper and pineapple - and some toasted almonds. Delicioso! A cup of leftover black bean soup on th

Twilight kinda sucks

The fact that online (and especially youtube) interest in Harry Potter seems to cross over with Twilight alot is pretty frusterating. Though as time goes on more and more “fans” seem to becoming at least down on the side of “awesomely bad”.  Over at i09 they have a very good take down of why the movie is a faithful adaptation of a poorly written book. Hint: it’s mostly weak characterization.

Fearless Forecast - 'Twlight' Eclipses $60 Million

It will be hard for Twilight to match the hype. Ever since Summit Entertainment announced it was moving a smaller teentastic movie into the void left vacant by Harry Potter (which will now open in July), word has been slowly spreading about the film, and as I've maintained all week, I don't believe I can recall the last time a movie like this had its public image peak at such a good time. You'd have to go back to Blair Witch to find an accurate comparison, because like this film, nobody had

The Five Most Obnoxious Literary Fads

The Five Most Obnoxious Literary Fads A Seriously Random List XXVI / Dustin Rowles 5. Harry Potter, by J.K. Rowling. I, like almost every other person in human existence, have read the entire Harry Potter series. And I, like almost every other person in human existence, enjoyed the Harry Potter series. But the level of obsession, the waves wrought by the series, and the overall Pottermania that invaded our culture was unwarranted for a series of largely repetitive books that were no better o

Reports on pirated Harry Potter CDs & DVDs

Two new reports have emerged about pirated Harry Potter CDs and DVDs. The first involves a scam concerning supposed blu-ray versions of the films. These versions of films, including Harry Potter, are cheaper and still in high-definition, however they are not up to the regular standard of official blu-ray disks. Quote: The pirates rip the movies from Blu-Ray disks by conventional means then re-encode them. The lower resolution means they can then be put on ordinary blank DVDs inste

Another Yes Man Harry Potter promo

A new promo of them, joined by 'Ron', played by Rhys Darby, has emerged and can be seen here. A synopsis for the film can be found here. Yes Man releases in cinemas on December 19th. twilight.

with over 20 million books sold of the twilight series, author stephenie meyer has created a love story between a human and a vampire, that has attracted not only a cult of young adults but their parents as well.  although most may be new to the fascinating sensation, its hard to resist where all the pandemonium is coming from. similar in ways to the harry potter literary craze, twilight has now become a movie with confirmed sequels starring kristen stewart and teen heart-breaker robert patti

Quote of the Week - Lauren Laverne & Michael Davies

Lauren Laverne & Michael Davies, two writers hoping to follow in the footsteps of J.K. Rowling, comment on the author of the Harry Potter series. Quote: LAUREN Laverne says she'd like to write a book in the future - but she's not sure whether she'd be able to rival JK Rowling. The Culture Show presenter admitted: "I could say I'd give JK Rowling a run for her money, but she's got so much money I'd need to run too far." Quote: “Most of all, I’d like to knock Har

Reminder:

12:59 pm Things: I don’t particularly like Star Wars.  I’ve never watched Lord of the Rings because I couldn’t get through the books.  The only really dorky movie series I’m into is Harry Potter.
