Actresses with a good public image.
Showbiz Tonight was discussing actresses who have a positive public image and try to stay out of trouble. Some of the ones they mentioned as successful are Hayden Panettiere of “Heroes”, Jennifer Love Hewitt of “Ghost Whisper” and Amanda Bynes.
I think all these have done such a great job of keeping it clean and are good role models even though they say that they aren’t perfect.
TV Guide
“TV Guide” has its sexy issue on the stands now.
So not many surprises here Patrick Dempsey of “Grey’s Anatomy”, Skeet Ulrich of “Jericho”, and Tom Willing of “Smallville”.
There were a few that I’ve never seen Sendhil Ramamurthy of “Heroes” and David Boreanaz of “Bones”.
My loss, I guess.
A Better Idea
Please ignore the previous post. A better idea is to send cards through the Red Cross program "Holiday Mail for Heroes." If you're interested in sending holiday cards please look at the Snopes discussion at: (and thank you, Carol for catching that.)http://www.snopes.com/politics/christmas/soldiercards.asp
Cards for Soldiers
Let's all do this! Lucy at Lulu's Petals reminded me of something we ALL need to do. When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to the address below. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get. Holiday Mail for Heroes P.O. Box 5456 Capitol Heights, MD. 20791-5456 All cards must be postmarked no later than Dec. 10 For more information, visit www.wramc.amedd.army.mil or
State of My Shows V: 2008 Edition
Well, with the writers strike last winter/spring it's been a year and 13 days since my last installment of The State of My Shows (which included a rundown of Tila Tequila A Shot At Love - the first one - just to date it.) Gary Unmarried - I've caught this show several times, because there is like nothing else on TV on Wednesday's at 8:30 and apparently I’m frequently home at that time. Starring Jay Mohr, the guy from Jerry McGuire and that girl you recognize from like 10 different things but w
the little heroes project
This got my heart. From their site, they are a non-profit based organization founded in January 2008, made up of professional photographers in US that provide free photo sessions to America’s Littlest Heroes. Who are the littlest heroes? The wee young ones who are fighting back bravely against their illnesses. The site shares the stories of these young fighters to inspire and motivate others. If you are a photographer willing to participate, do drop by the site and contact them. If you know
Random Thoughts Before Grey’s
Grey’s has been majorly BAD lately, falling in line with Heroes which I have completely abandoned. I am forever grateful for endless re-runs of House on USA. Me bad Mom. While watching House I think 2 year old is fast asleep next to me. Little laughters, “Mom House funny.” Oh shit! Dean’s Fanny May Meltaway Ice Cream=Good Red Wine=Good Dean’s Fannie May Ice Cream + Red Wine= upset tummy On Coffee table right now -One plate of half eaten lasagna -Half a Pop-tart -Three Five cars -Cup o

Barack Obama, Farm Aid, and Wilco
Here is a great clip of our President-Elect Barack Obama at Farm Aid in 2005 introducing alt-country heroes Wilco. Obama’s passion is pretty clear from the top. His energy was infectious even then. It’s interesting to watch this now, seeing how that passion was in place before his recent ambitions. And of course, Jeff Tweedy and Wilco deliver an excellent performance. According to a few interviews, Tweedy and his band were inspired by Obama’s powerful presence to get involved with his campaign
"What is heroism for women? After many years of discussion and examination we came up..."
“What is heroism for women? After many years of discussion and examination we came up with—it’s an old idea extrapolated from the end of Middlemarch by George Eliot, where she talks about how she was always trying to create female heroes and it was frustrating for her because she found that the heroines had to do with the smaller tributaries in life. It had to do with the details, every little action of every day.” - Emma Thompson Is So Smart - Women & Hollywood

“spaces between” 2 - entering the narratives
Bill Rose-Heim comments in the first post on this subject that it seems as if after eight years in his community he is only now discerning the rhythms of life that exist. Apart from that kind of seeing, we are not likely to discern the ways in which the Spirit is at work in our communities. What Bill’s comment evokes for me is a growing awareness of my own investment in the life of my community. It takes more than time and an occasional conversation with neighbors to begin to deeply enter the
Review: Sonic Unleashed (Playstation 2/Wii)
Ohh boy, do I have words to say about this. So before you get all excited, this ISN’T the Sonic Unleashed in all the trailers and stuff. This version was made for the Wii and PS2 by DIMPS, creator of the Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush games, and not to put too fine a point on it, it’s a sloppy port that entirely lives up to the infamous Sonic Cycle. Story The game’s story isn’t very serious. It feels like a Saturday Morning Cartoon, and that’s a VERY good thing, primarily because it’s no

The 'Offending Countries' of Africa
Africa's press freedom fighters occupy a special place in our hearts. The continent is one of the most intractable places for this fundamental right to prosper. Yet we see, and report, ample evidence that Africa is in no shortage of press freedom heroes. That's why we welcome the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights' (ACHPR) Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information Pansy Tlakula's statement of concern about several countries that insist on blocking the way
THE IT CROWD Returns For Series Two
The third series of the award-winning sitcom follows the adventures of Roy (Chris O’Dowd ) Moss (Richard Ayoade) and Jen (Katherine Parkinson), who continue against the odds to be employed by Reynholm Industries as IT consultants. During the new series their seemingly fragile friendship is reinforced when they become the victims of sexual harassment, create a fundraising erotic calendar, confront the builders from hell and join a social networking site. A brilliantly funny look at the uns
Stephen Malkmus / Blitzen Trapper @ Gothic Theatre, Denver 11.6.2008
[Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - Photos by Chip Diffendaffer] [Blitzen Trapper] Portland's Blitzen Trapper looks exactly like what one imagines a classic American rock band should. The sextet's wardrobe pulls inspiration from the utilitarian basics of plaid and flannel for shirts, denim for below and a look as unremarkable as any. They could be the band down the street playing your neighborhood bar. A grungy set of fellows, all long hairs with guitars. Of course the difference with your par

Tim Kring knows why "Heroes" sucks.....
He's been speaking at Creative Screenwriting magazine's 2008 Screenwriting Expo this past weekend. Here's why he thinks "Heroes" sucks ass in the ratings this season... Writing a serialized drama is "an absolute bear." It is also a "very flawed way of telling stories on network television," because of the advent of DVR and online streaming, for example, Kring said, according to the report. Serialized dramas work only if people sit in front of their TV sets on the night and at the hour
Bagged & Boarded 9: Up At The Crack
What happens when two young men let their love of movies, comic books, and all things “geek” take over their lives? They run away from their families, bringing only the most essential DVDs and comics to their secret, highly fortified underground bunker in sunny Southern California, where they start recording podcasts that will change the world. Are they heroes? No. Are they geniuses? Far from it. Are they the future of this planet? I sure hope not. Simply put… Matt Cohen and Jesse Ri
Hooks ‘N’ You: Richard Barone, “Cool Blue Halo” and other works
Live albums have been a staple of the music business for ages, and even if you’re someone who loudly proclaims to have no interest in them whatsoever, it’s probable that you have at least one or two buried somewhere in your collection, even if it’s stretching back to your vinyl or cassette days. I’m pretty sure the first live album I ever purchased was Wings Over America, which served as my transition from the Beatles into Paul McCartney’s ’70s solo output - to this day, attempts to sing alon
Heroes’ viewers are morons, says creator Tim Kring
OMG. I’ve always been quite certain that Tim Kring was a failure who had no idea what to do with the show, hence why every season has been a disaster and why every year he comes out to explain that yes there were mistakes, but now they know better and will fix things, so wait for the next volume/season, cause that one will kick ass! Of course… And I never understood why so many people seems to think it was good, that he could acknowledge his mistakes and that things weren’t perfect with the sh
